Dance Games

In autumn 2012 I have been part of a Research & Development project entitled Dance Games directed by choreographer Freddie Opoku-Addaie. He has invited two choreographers, Jorge Crecis and myself, to collaborate with him and a group of dancers in the studio. Freddie introduced a game to us that he used to play when he grew up in Ghana. A simple starting point for choreographic experimentation, and many rules were added along the way. An interesting element was added by the collaborative process, three choreographers working together and separately, and trying to expand on each others ideas and methods. We have been working with dancers Maria Palliani, John Ros, Nathan Johnston, Jamie Morgans and Masumi Saito. Mary Ann Hushlack documented our process and we are now preparing to share our experiences. Meet us here:
